B.Sc. Agriculture is a four-year degree covering agronomy, soil science, plant breeding, horticulture and farm management, with fieldwork throughout.

It is a practical choice for students from farming districts, and it leads somewhere: state agriculture departments, banks with agricultural lending arms, seed and fertiliser companies, and further study or research.

You do not need a national entrance test for the colleges we work with in Agra. They are private colleges affiliated to a state university, and they admit through the state and university process on your Class 12 marks, with 50% as the minimum. If you have been told that agriculture admission means clearing a national exam, that is true of one route and not of this one.

The other route, so you can weigh it. CUET (ICAR-UG) is the national entrance test, run by the National Testing Agency. It fills 20% of the seats at agricultural universities, and all of the seats at six ICAR institutions, including Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University at Pusa in Bihar and the ICAR-IARI hub in Jharkhand. To sit it you need any three of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Agriculture at 10+2, with 50% in aggregate, or 40% for SC, ST, Third Gender and PwBD candidates.

Two things ICAR states plainly about that route, and both catch students out. Marks are not rounded up. 49.99% is not 50%. And a diploma or vocational course taken after Class 10 does not qualify, which is the opposite of the rule for GNM nursing. If one of those ICAR colleges is what you want, say so and we will work to that calendar instead.
