B.Sc. Nursing
The degree route into nursing, and the one that opens supervisory and teaching roles later.

The two-year postgraduate degree for registered nurses, and the qualification teaching posts ask for.

You must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, or equivalent, with a State Nursing Registration Council, and hold B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with at least 55% aggregate. You also need a year of work experience: after the degree if you came through Basic B.Sc. Nursing, but either before or after it if you came through Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing. INC sets no age limit for this course.
None prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council. Its admission terms for this programme contain no entrance-test clause, where the B.Sc. Nursing document sets one out in detail. Selection therefore rests with the university or the state, so we confirm the route for your destination state before you apply.

M.Sc. Nursing is the postgraduate degree in nursing. It runs two years, and it is the qualification nursing colleges look for when they hire teaching faculty. INC’s own staffing norms for a college of nursing are built around M.Sc.-qualified teachers.
Three things have to be true before you can apply. You must be registered as a nurse and midwife with a State Nursing Registration Council. You must hold B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing or P.B. B.Sc. Nursing with at least 55%. And you need a year of work experience.
The experience rule is kinder than it sounds if you came the long way round. If you did Basic B.Sc. Nursing straight from school, the year has to come after your degree. If you came through P.B. B.Sc. Nursing, INC lets the year fall either before or after, and since P.B. B.Sc. already requires you to be a registered, working nurse, you have almost certainly served it already.
So the full ladder from Class 12 looks like this: GNM, then registration and work, then P.B. B.Sc. Nursing, then M.Sc. Nursing, with the experience requirement met along the way rather than added at the end.
Where it leads is teaching, college administration and the senior clinical and supervisory posts that ask for a postgraduate qualification.
