D.El.Ed. prepares you to teach at the elementary level, and it runs for two years.

What you need to have passed depends on the state. In Bihar, Jharkhand and Delhi NCR you can join after Class 12 with 50%, which makes it the faster route into teaching. In Uttar Pradesh, where most of our teaching seats are, the state asks for a bachelor’s degree with 50% instead. If you are in Class 12 and set on Agra, that difference is worth knowing before you plan around it. There is an upper age limit of 35.

It is the qualification most state governments ask for when recruiting primary school teachers, usually alongside the relevant teacher eligibility test.

Bihar is the only one of our states with a D.El.Ed. entrance test. Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Delhi NCR admit on a merit list built from your qualifying marks, so the percentage you already have is what decides it. There is no second exam to prepare for. Either way we work from the current notification for your state rather than from last year’s.
